Tired of the "I'm a Mac" Ads

Anyone else getting tired of the "I'm a PC, I'm a Mac" commercials?

Oh, I know naysayers will say, "Well, duh, this guy was on the Vista team ... of course he's tired of it!"  But, those who know me know that I generally love this kind of stuff.  After all, if you can't laugh at yourself ...

But, you know, there comes a time when "cute" just dissolves into mudslinging (that happened after the first 2 or 3).   It kind of reminds me of politics.  If you can't sell yourself on your own merits, then that says something of your character (in this case, of your product), especially when the message has only the slightest modicum of truth.  That's why we're seeing parodies showing up on YouTube and other sites that poke fun of these commercials.

And -- as I've been asked before -- I like Macs fine, though I don't use them often.  It's apples and oranges, and the two products aren't really in the same league.  Completely different requirements, levels of complexity, and supportability.

Agreed! i'm sick of the commercials. Only because most of the things they say are "old beliefs" about pcs from the 90's when win95 and dos were the only thing you can get. These days PCs installed with current operating systems (be it Fedora Core with gnome or your microsoft os) have rich gui interfaces and a plethorae of multimedia software at your disposal... INCLUDED with your OS.

Additionally, certain commercials upset me for specific reasons because they are generalizations and stereotypes:
PCs have lots of pieces: not true, you can get a pc laptop or pc microatx.

PCs are hard to setup: not true, you plug in a mouse, keyboard, and monitor just like a mac, then you turn it on and log in. Not sure what is more complex about this than a mac? i've used mac and the fact that i only had one mouse button was more frustrating then anything i've ever faced on a PC. (albeit multiple boot configs to play a game in dos back in the 90s sucked.. but i got through it)

PCs are bloated with trial software: only if you buy it from a crappy vendor like dell, gateway etc who sell contracts to software vendors to put that junk on there. you get what you pay for... if you buy a pc from a big vendor they're gonna load it up with bs.

PCs are better at business needs: true, not gonna argue that stereotype. Smile but seriously a mac is just as good, if your business needs are graphics and music. hah

PCs are ugly and fat: you can build a pc to look however you want it too, customizing not only the case and the look but the internal configuration by using any one of 1000s of mobo vendors, ram vendors, accessory vendors...

and the stereotypes go on and on.

The coolest thing about macs, they have great monitors, great graphics and sound engineering apps/hardware, and when it's time to upgrade you just throw it away and buy a new one. Smile

Those ads are definitely lame!
It's interesting to see Mac guys think they're cool, although they're really not, just because they are put out by Apple.
